As Jason has already talked about in his blog, there indeed is an ongoing conflict in the Victoria Park region of Kitchener-Waterloo.

For years there was an un-easy, tense atmosphere exisiting between the various ethnic factions within the geese community. Eventually these tensions erupted into a full-scale conflict between two opposing sides within this community. Again as Jason mentioned, the upscale residential geese (URG) are in an ongoing war against the downtown geese (DTG), in what is essentially a land dispute. The main gazebo on the centre island has been under seige from both sides, and has been the site of near constant shelling for close to 3 years now.

Worst of all, recently evidence has surfaced of ethnic cleansing. It is uncertain at this point which side is guilty (it is assmued both sides are). But the real victims of the conflict are no doubt the ducks and the squirrels.

(a patrol of URG troops return from a reconnassaince mission around the edges of the centre island; unquestionably with new intel. on shelling positions, but what else could they have been up to? Notice the absence of any squirrels?)

A UN/NATO peace keeping force made up mostly of see-gulls has been an installation in the area since the out-break of war, though they generally have done very little. The NATO force occasionally sends out fighter jets for precision strikes on goose strongholds, however they evidentally are having little effect on the situation. They sat by and watched as a company of URG geese soldiers marched large group of squirrels out of the centre island, and into a ditch near the south end of the park. Since then these squirrels have not been seen, and are feared dead. The really sad fact is that no one knows yet how common of an occurance this is.

(Just one of an unimaginable number of victims in this conflict. It reminds us all that the first casualty of war is innocence.)

This is just a slightly detailed account of the tragic war currently taking place that many of you may not be aware of. As you read this now numerous ducks and squirrels suffer as they're anscetoral homeland is meticulously destroyed by artillery coming from both sides of the conflict. Join the fight to reach a peace agreement that the UN seemingly is incapable of accomplishing. The international community can not simply sit by and watch yet another ethnic war in this world claim more innocent victims. Don't wait until it's over to indict the war criminals!

hahaha

Now that's journalism. I think that picture of the duck with the broken leg will be the next "running naked napalm Vietnamese girl". Gets the heart-strings.

I think Cambridge is behind this conflict. They're trying to destabilize Kitchener from within.
